Which material is the best?
It sounds like a pretty vague question, but how do I know which material is best for my project? Well have no fear, we’re here to help! Its abit of a loaded question, because it really does depend on what you want it for, so below we’ll detail some of the more common print materials and what they are generally used for.
PVC stands for Poly Vinyl Chloride (a good trivia question), combined with a compacted foam substrate. It makes for a lightweight material with a hard, smooth surface. Foam PVC is great for getting signs made that you’ll place inside generally. Commonly used for wedding seating charts, sponsor signs or information panels. Common max sheet size is 2400mm(w) x 1200mm(h), but we’d recommend more for use under 1000×1000.
ACM stands for Aluminium Composite Material. It has a dense polyethylene core slot in between between two aluminum sheets. It’s durable & lightweight and is generally used for outdoor purposes. Shopfront signs, permanent fence signs or use on items like a-frames are its regular applications.
Corflute panels are a great short term solution for your project. They are low cost due to the durability of the material and a great lightweight option. The corrugated plastic material comes in 2 different thicknesses (3 or 5mm) and can have any colour print on them. You usually find corflute signs at trade shows or used in point of sale displays in retail stores.
The most common material used for graphics on windows or any surface for that matter. Vinyl decals can be printed in many shapes, sizes and colours and are a great option if you’re looking to up your brands presence on a shopfront or vehicle. You can also get smaller sized items like bumper stickers made from vinyl. This option is quite customizable, different finishes can be selected depending on what your wanting it for.
Vinyl banners are a great option for semi-permanent signage. They’re made from a durable, weather resistant vinyl which is great for all year round. Can be printed in any color and you can add eyelets to them, so you can attach to fencing.
Common sizes are 1800mm(w) x 900mm(h) or 2000mm(w) x 1000mm(h).
